I was laid off yesterday. What a bummer.

Cover it or it might freeze off

Had my teeth cleaning this morning with the funniest Dentist around, Randy Miller. If you see him ask him about the guy with the wooden legs who's mobile home caught on fire. He still has it. I am the worst flosser on the planet. Every time I get my teeth cleaned I have to get a pint of blood. I know, Floss and brush.
I'll say one thing about our Governor Jim Douglass, he sure knows how to put out press releases! I must get 3-4 a day. If he could only put that effect into curing our ills.
I disagree with his budget cuts, most hurting the most needy, I am 100% against his idea of cutting school budgets. What the Governor doesn't tell you about is the federal mandates that we have to pay for. Once again budget cuts in school budgets will only hurt the students that need it most, K-5. We cannot let this happen. For the past 6 years he has watched over the collapse of our roads and bridges and now he wants to oversee the downward spiral of our school systems.
Wow, as I am writing this, I just received another press release from the Gov. Office. You might want to take a break and cut a ribbon or hit a Chicken Dinner Jim.

Somethings in the Air

With the price of gas under $2 a gallon you think I'd be happy, but I'm not. The price was $1.56 a gallon just a few weeks back and now it's up to $1.85. WTF? That sucks. That's up almost 30 cents for no reason at all. With the economy in the crapper the last thing we need if for the price of gas to start shooting up for no reason, and that's what its doing, going up for no reason.
How about this. The temperature on Sunday is supposed to be 8 degrees and I'll be golfing and running in the 1/9 miler on Church Street. I was going to go topless but not now. Beside I don't need the Free Press putting my stomach back on the front page of the paper.

Party on Garth

Wow!! It was better than I expected. Barack Obama is now our President and it feels great. I am so happy and so proud to be an American. The storm clouds have cleared from our country and a breath of fresh air has arrived. Translation, George Bush is back in Texas and now we have tremendous hope for our new President and our future. I pray to God to watch over him and his family and to keep him safe and strong for our country and this world. I have never in my 53 years seen such an outpouring of good thoughts and excitement. I only wish I was in Washington to be there in person.
Nice job America.

Don't you have something better to cover

Journalism? It is amazing what shit passes as Journalism these days. For example, The News Channel 5 Restaurant report. It's one thing if the information they are using is a day or two old at the most a week, but tonight one of the Restaurants that scored low on a inspection was from almost 2 months ago. That's not news, that fill. To be honest, it's a joke.
By the way, have I told you I still love Gus Rosendale. After his report on the dog left in the Van for almost 3 weeks at the airport, his response, "What is wrong with people". Right on Gus, right on. Most times news anchors show no emotion, but he was absolutely right in saying that.
Speaking of the dog in the Van. Where are the idiots who did this. By the way they are from Quebec. Stupid Queebs. Since my Grandfather came from Quebec, I can say that. Queebs are the rudest people I have every met. Maybe when they find them, instead of going to jail lets put them back in the Van they had there dog in and lock them in for 3 weeks with nothing just like they left their dog.
Can't wait until Tuesday.

One week and counting

Our long national nightmare is almost over. George Bush is going back to Texas in one week. Good riddance. He has done more damage to this country in the last 8 years than the previous 233 years. I still love the fact that when Jim Jeffords was a Senator he stuck it to "W" and the republicans by becoming an independent. God bless Jim Jeffords. That is true courage when you know a decision like that will turn old friends into enemies and have the conservative right just vilify you. As I have said many times, people like Rush Limburger are just so full of hate. Like Lord Voldemort. Keep popping those pills you big fat loser.
Lets see, if Tom Messiner says 2 inches of snow tonight, does that mean 8 inches? Just having some fun Tom.
Glad to see Jim Rice get into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He should have been voted in years ago but I guess some baseball writers got upset with him because he would talk to them when he was a player. Grow the F up. Writers should have no say on who does and doesn't get into the Hall. Let the members of the Hall of Fame decide.
Speaking of getting in the Hall of Fame. Big congrats to Metallica and Jeff Beck for getting into the Rock N Roll Hall of fame. The induction ceremony happens in April.

Giants lose...ha ha ha ha

I love the fact that the New York football Giants lost in their playoff game today. I am a Cowboy and Patriot fan so it is with some satisfaction that the Giants will not go to the Superbowl this year. Don't tell me your team went further then mine because it doesn't matter. They are done just like my teams are!
How about those UVM hockey cats. The hockey team took 3 of 4 points this weekend from Boston College. A tie and win in two games had us on the edge of our seats, especially the Friday night tilt. My favorite player is Peter Lenes. He is a little dynamo
The real reason for my blog today is our Governor. I have always said that I like Jim Douglass. He is a good guy and has served out state for many many year, but some of his comments and suggestion lately trouble me. The article in today's Free Press hit it right on the nose. He comes up with these ideas that come out of left field, doesn't talk to anyone about them for feedback, doesn't work with anyone to find consensus and then complains. What really concerns me is his proposal on schools and school budgets. In a tough year he is scaring people and what will happen is that school budgets across our state will take a hit because of his scare tactic. I urge the Democrats in the house and Senate to ignore him over the next two years and take control of the dialogue and decisions in Montpelier. You have the numbers to get what you need done and you are veto proof as well. There is no better time to do this than right now. If the Governor doesn't want to work together and move the state in the right track it is the duty of the house and senate Democrats to take charge.
By the way, do not vote for any candidate running for Mayor of Burlington who does not approve of a waterfront Hotel and Convention center. It's needed and will bring more business to our area and right now that is what we need.

Cut this

So our Governor wants to cut our school budgets. Lets see, our student population is declining but our cost keep going up. You think that might be happening in every segment of our work force? What the Governor seems to forget is these federal mandates like No Child left behind that the Federal government does not pay for that we as a state or community have to fund or the fixed cost that go along with school systems. Plus I have a real tough time letting the state tell me how to spend my local money. Seems like Jim needs to go back to school. One thing we need to do is get rid of all these school superintendents. One per county will save us serious money. Try that first before you impact our students Gov.
Congrats to Tim Thomas the former UVM goaltender who made the NHL All Star team for the second year in a row. Speaking of UVM, big weekend with Boston College in town.
Hey before I forget, I got an invitation from Barack Obama to attend the inauguration. How cool is that. Only problem, if I go the closet I'll probably get will be about 20 miles from the sight. I think everyone and their brother is going to see this inauguration.

Find me a fire hydrant

It really blows me away when I see people out running during the winter. Not just a sunny day in the winter but when the temps are below freezing, the wind chill is 10 and it's snowing. I guess if you like to run you like to run. Personally, I don't like to walk. That's what Cars and Golf Carts are for. My point for you runners, I'm happy for you, but why in God's name are you dragging your Dog with you. Did you have a conversation with your Dog and he or she want to run 10 miles with you. You figure if you're going to suffer running that many miles in the cold and snow you want someone to suffer with you. If I get reincarnated as a dog and you bring me running I will piss and crap on you ever chance I get. You want to make a pet suffer, bring your cat. Did I ever tell you I love cats. DEAD CATS!!!
I'm going with Florida tonight in the BCS title game. Go Gators. I don't know if Tim Tebow will every make the Pro's as a quarterback. but I really liked watching him as a college player. He is a throwback player from yester year.

Bend over, here we go again

Today I was talking about the rise of gas prices the past few days. This gas station around the corner from the station posted the price of gas per gallon on Sunday at $1.56. Yesterday it was up to $1.63 then today on the way home it was up to $1.71. That's 15 cents in 3 days, an average of 5 cents a day. WTF??? Here we go again. Have you heard a reason why the price of a gallon of gas should go up 15 cents in 3 days, besides more F'in greed at Oil companies and by gas station owners. Was 15 cents a gallon profit last week not enough that they had to make 30 cents a gallon profit? I also blame our public officials for not having the balls to go after these people in the past when they where charging us over $4 a gallon a few months back. Baseball can be fined for collusion but our government can't go to the mat for their citizens?
Doug Racine has decided to run for Governor again. Good for him. Just like our governor, he is a good guy. I think it's funny that he has announced that he is running in 2010 and Jim Douglass hasn't been sworn in for his next two year term. When are we going to get our of the Dark age and elect our Governor to a four year term.

Back in the Saddle again

It's good to be back at work. Don't get me wrong, I have no bitch with having the last 12 or so days off. Nice to get away from it all so you can think straight. I always find that taking time off between Christmas and New Years re charges the batteries and I always seem to come up with a bunch of new ideas for the future.
Are you as sick as I am about these HDTV ads that every God damn TV station is running. This is worst then the Y2K Virus that was supposed to hit at the beginning of 2000. You remember how they tried to frighten us back then. From what I hear, Less than 30,000 people in Vermont and Upstate New York will be affected by this because they don't have cable or satellite. Give me a F'in break. We won't get this much pre sell on the end of the world. Which by the way is December 21st 2012. I heard this from Nostradamus. The history channel ran this show last night on why the end of the world will have that day and that year. Some of why is just plain B.S. and some of it makes you think it just might happen. Personally, I hope they get it wrong.
See you back on the radio

Time to start pissing people off again

I have to say, the New Years Day bowls games are not what they used to be. The only real big showdown was USC and Penn State and the smart money was on SC to win big. I mean come on, South Carolina and Iowa? Virgina Tech and Cincinnati? Clemson and Nebraska? You have got to be kidding me. Lame lame and more lame. Thank god for the Winter Classic on NBC. Hockey outdoors just like when we played as kids. The other thing I found last night was the new Baseball network. MLB Network. 24/7 baseball. If the NHL and NFL can have it's own network, why not baseball. What's next, soccer? God I hope not!!
Speaking of hockey, what makes Ted Ryan of the Free press such an expert that he has to give advice to Kevin Sneddon the head coach of UVM. I'm sure Kevin needs advice and feedback from time to time, but not from Ted Ryan. Hey Ted, just report the game would you. Really, why do I care, I just cancelled by subscription to the Free Press. Why pay for something when you can get it on line for FREE!!!! In case you didn't know, the Freeps is owned by one of the largest media companies around. Champ is owned by a local guy and we're already free to listen to.
Well the snow is starting to fall and I have to get ready to go work at UVM. I do PA for the UVM Men's hockey team and the next two days bring the Catamount cup tourney to the gut. See you there.
